At Rangetime high-quality steel targets are our passion. Our shooting targets are CNC Laser cut in the USA from the finest AR500 and AR550 steel. Not only are these targets bead blasted and smooth, they are tough and can endure the most advanced tactical shooter. Quality shouldn’t have to cost you more, so don’t settle for softer plasma cut steel targets. Instead opt for a target that is as tough and precise as you are. All of our targets come powder coated in white so they are ready to shoot. Many of our competitors skip this step. Most targets can use up to a can of spray paint for one target!
AR500 Steel Targets
3/8 inch thick AR500 targets will work great for all types of handguns, pistols and rifle calibers up to a .308. They ring will and can handle pretty much anything you can dish out. We recommend 10 yards or more with handguns and 100 yards or more with rifle calibers.
AR550 Steel Targets
1/2 inch thick AR550 targets uses are for magnum round rifle shooting with calibers greater than .308. These calibers have that extra punch that can bend a steel target over time. Another caliber that we recommend using AR550 with is the .223 or .556 when shooting close quarters type of shooting. This type of range practice is usually set up at 50 yards to 75 yards. With the high velocities of .223/556 at these close distances, AR500 can start to dimple over time. Too much dimpling can lead to ricochets and wear out a target prematurely.
Mounting your steel targets properly will help your targets last longer, ring louder and produce less chance of ricochets. It is recommended that all types of metal targets should be mounted at a 20 degree angle or more and be able to move when hit. Don’t forget to check out our mounts, steel target stands and hangers.
